Draft chatter

Beijing citizens, or Dave Tomke's draft board?

I'm hearing a lot of positive feedback about getting a running start via email. Mostly because JR emails me saying it's a great idea every two hours.

Still, I'm starting to like it more and more. Even if we start it on the 21st or 22nd, that gives us tons of time to knock about 6 rounds (or 1 whole hour) off of our sunday chat. As far as not having enough prep time? If it takes you over a week to identify 20 players that can help your team, you may have problems. I've been working on the logistics and I'm finding it far more feasible than I originally thought. I'd also be willing to set up a phone tree where owners with more frequent access can call schlubs who work at walgreens when it's their turn to pick, in order to speed it up.

Is anyone else crossing over to JR's side with me? Or is it still a bad idea?

Shit, start the e-mail draft tomorrow. That's fine with me.

I know when we chatted, you mentioned a one week waiting time, but I'm more of Eli's mentality. The sooner we can get going, the better.

I will be on vacation, adorned in lederhosen and likewise less responsive to email, for the duration of the proposed email draft. I fear the bristling neck hair of impatient owners waiting 48 hours for me to submit my pick for a player who inevitably has already been taken.

So...then let's start now!

Whoa, the draft just moved from April 1 to Mar. 19. I haven't done my prep. Chill out.

Listen, I hardly ever prep and I pretty much dominate every league, so suck it up Tomke.

Well, I have Excel spreadsheets sorted by OPS, DIPS, WARP3, VORP, BA/BIP, RC, LD% and xFIP.

5 of those are made up.

Can I nominate Eli as my proxy?

With the first overall pick in the draft, Dave Tomke selects Francisco Rodriguez.

Serious.

With the 3rd overall pick, Ed's holding his breath that Baron passes on Sammy Sosa.
