On-the surface analysis brought to you by JR Radcliffe:
BARON: Sharing is caring. Which is why Baron went with three running backs who will be sharing carries.
ELI: Ramming it down our throats. Again, Gieryna falls in love with that Linehan thing. Hope the Rams don't suck, again.
NEW GUY*: Grin and Berrian. Preventing us all from grabbing good ole Bernard with our seventh round sleeper choice.
JR: Edge of reason. One more opportunity to see just how far Edgerrin James has fallen.
ED: This time it's personal. I'm not going to be impressed until after the playoffs this year.
STEM: Err Jordan. Was LaMont ever really good?
TOMKE: Bullshit Cheater and the Shit-Ton. But no Asians.
VIANO: View to a kill. I was going to make a joke about Javon Walker's proximity to a murder, but couldn't come up with anything that didn't make me feel awful.
CHAMP: Handy man. Poor Frank Gore is broken.
DREW: Sophomores and silliness. Hoping those backs keep on keeping on. And ... I'm sorry, is that really Laverneus Coles?
I'll defend Slick on this one, not because it's a move I would necessarily make, but it's one that's acceptable.
-Donovan McNabb has missed 13 games over the last 2 seasons. These aren't fluke injuries either. ACL, Sports Hernia, Broken Leg. He's anything but reliable at this point. -The Eagles drafted a QB in the second round. Not to read far to much into this like our friends in the MSM do, but that's a sign that the Eagles don't have a ton of faith in a 31 year old QB who's already got 9 brutal NFL seasons under his belt and the aforementioned lengthy injury history. He loses value if he leaves pass-wacky Philly for somewhere else. -He's only completed 60% of his passes once- and that was with TO around. -On a team with very little young talent, Leinart's a good fit. He has great offensive pieces (esp. at WR) with a new tackle and a new coaching staff in AZ. We're looking at a guy who can be a 25 TD guy with loads of yardage. He doesn't come with an injury history either.
For a team that's almost already out of contention, I think the Lucious Lefty is a heady pick as we look to 2008. Remember, we all thought Baron was nuts for going after VUFSA 8th rounder Carson Palmer in 2005.
I will say, after all that, that it may have been helpful to keep both QBs instead of Berrian and deal from there for picks or players in-season. That's where the flaw is, for me.
I'm just happy every one is so focused on who Slick kept that the team that won the league resorted to keeping Lavernaeus Coles is getting a general pass. Whew.

My keepers:
Steven Jackson
Clinton Portis
Laurence Maroney
Torry Holt
Philip Rivers
They're due tonight, so I imagine Ed will have a list out soon. But just in case you can't wait, we can get started.
That's right. I'm not keeping Wali Lundy. He's free for the taking.
Basketball keepers, right? Because I can't believe how bad Elton Brand is fucking with me right now.
There's always 2008-09, I suppose.
Get the feeling Ed is compensating for something based on the amount of Johnson he held onto?*

*really had nothing to work with, anyway.
The new guy didn't have much to work with, no. But keeping Leinart over McNabb didn't help his cause.

I thought people were joking when they said Slick kept Bernard Berrian.
Also, I should have went with my heart and kept Tony Romo over Vince Young.
-Tomke
To be fair, Berrian might be slightly better in most overall rankings than another player who was kept. Leinart.

Well, you didn't put pick Coles instead of Donovan McNabb.
Welcome, Slick!
What's wrong with a little personnel-related criticism? After all, aren't we trying to increase the competitive balance of the league?
Sorry for speaking out of turn. I get it. Back to the asshole box for me.
Fuck you, Champ!
-Tomke
What is the asshole box exactly? Is that where one shits? I just think of that as the toilet.
Also. When is the draft again? It's not anytime before 7p Sunday, is it?
