The Open Thread Death Knell

I have a feeling that no one cares about these anymore and we won't get any response, but I'll give it one last go-round. I'll even include a holiday video; it's a recording of an interview with Spinal Tap about their song "Christmas With the Devil," followed by a live performance.

Merry Christmas.

The rats ate all the presents and the reindeer ran away.

Eli, your high brow humor makes me sweaty.

Boobs. Fart.

Devin Hester.

I actually viewed "Tap" for the first time last night. It's odd that that's the selected open thread video.

Fire Rex Grossman.

I might beat Ed with Cedric Houston and Zack Crockett as starting running backs. This is probably going to jinx me, but Houston and Reggie Shit-Ton Bush are outscoring LT and LJ. Or at least equaling them, and Drew Brees has done nothing.

Wow.

Don't look now, but Shit-Ton just scored his 3rd TD.

I saw "For Your Consideration" last weekend. It's no Tap, but it's still sharp.

(I would talk about my team if there was anything to say.)

Lincoln, that's just nitpicking.

4 TDs for Shit-Ton

LaDanian is trying his best to keep you in it, Ed.

Do I smell...Romo?

You guys showed up!

That's great. Now that you're here, I agree: Fire Rex Grossman. Replace him with injured Donovan McNabb. He's better than both Griese and Grossman.

Also, I've heard that "For Your Consideration" is pretty underwhelming. I had high hopes, but I was advised to just wait until it came out on video.

Additionally, I wasn't kidding about Ladell Betts in my mini-preview.

I don't know if it was the relative release date that did it, but I enjoyed "Best in Show" more than "Tap" by a considerable margin.

Some guy named "Faggins" just scored a touchdown.

My VUFSA thoughts:

-The past three weeks I've actually hoped to have a modest score and win. This week I wanted a cathartic 245 after a shitty work day and get shit on by Shit-Ton. I think I hate Dave again.
-Stem is in a position to upset Champ, which makes next week even more interesting. Clutch move by Champ to start Dillon though.
-Marcel Shipp scored 3 TDs today. He's the next Jerome Bettis.
-I don't know for sure, but I think Chester Taylor was one of the 4 fatalites on the Vikings offense today. Fuck.
-Marion Barber should be the first ever backup RB to be kept.

Lastly, how much do you think Tony Romo's pubic hair would sell for on ebay? I think a bag of that would go for 479 dollars, and that's without shipping.

I don't know much about this, but I'll ask anyway. Is there anyway to get a livebookmark for TG10? and what does the 10 stand for?

Eli said...

Yes, Chester Taylor was a fatality today, and all the carries went to Ciatrick Fason.

What is a Ciatrick Fason?

Eli said...

Not sure what you mean by livebookmark. But if you want one, I'll probably make it happen.

And the "10" is just a number. No real significance or anything, other than it being the number I always had when I played baseball and basketball.

We have a Wali Lundy sighting. He set and NFL record for most women satisfied during a 3 yard TD run.

On Christopher Guest: I think the order in which you view his films directly affects how you remember them, because you're less used to the style at first. I, too, saw Best in Show first and still like it best but I couldn't fault anyone for choosing Spinal Tap or perhaps even Waiting for Guffman. Let's put it this way: I liked For Your Consideration better than the tepid A Mighty Wind but the characterizations aren't as funny/painful as Best in Show because they're more topical/stereotypical (e.g. the producer is a clueless wallet, the writers are stuffy, etc.).

On Father Abraham: When I decided to start Matt Leinart, I was hoping the weekly recap would mention something about "losing handsomely" but instead Garrard's out to make me look like a fool.

What a TG10? Ed, you're looking for an RSS feed, no?

Edwin said...

TG10 is Eli's new blog, and an RSS feed sounds exactly like what i was looking for. I want a bookmark in firefox to tell me when there is new content. I'm such a simpleton.

Also, these afternoon games are death.

Okay, I see what you're saying. I can set one of those up , but I didn't think anyone would be interested enough to subscribe. God bless you.

I'm still a Spinal Tap guy, though I know Guest didn't actually direct it. It was the first I saw, and I sort of enjoy the whole hair metal scene on an ironic level. Plus, "Big Bottom" is an incredible song.

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'
That's what I said.
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
Or so I have read.

Fun fact: That song was written about JR.

Eli said...

Eli Manning outscored Tony Romo by 18 points.

JR said...

Is that song about me because you think of my obesity as "bigger the cushion"?

If so, go to hell.

Eli said...

No. It's the more about the sex than anything else.

I have absolutely no idea what anyone is talking about in this thread. I'm sure that says something about me, but I'm not sure what.

Pedro Gomez: "You used an intrepeter at the steriod hearings. Now that we are here one-on-one, did you use ever use performance enhancing drugs?"

Sosa: (Eyes shift to the left.) "No."

Easily the least convincing steriod denial ever.
