A poll?

Chances are, I'm going to take Reggie Bush first overall in the NFL Draft. If you were me, though, what would you do:

A) Take Reggie Bush.
B) Take Domanick Davis.
C) Take Antonio Gates.
D) Take Roy Williams.
E) Try to trade the pick.

Also, feel free to proposition me. Both sexually and for the pick.

I think you should take Mario Williams.

I, too, have thought about doing that. Mostly for the comedic value. I'd probably have to be drunk. But that's just as much of a possibility.

As your baseball draft advisor, I shall advise that you take Antonio Gates, based on position scarcity. Gates is young, and he's one of just a couple top-tier TEs.

If you're going for comedy, I'd say go Matt Leinart. Then you can make Paris Hilton jokes.

It's weird for guys you compete against to give you advice, since a lot of assholes (like me) will try to mislead you. I'll try and be honest.

A) Running backs are the most important thing in the VUFSA. I feel that this upcoming first round will prove that. You take Bush, and you could have the next Barry Sanders from 2007-2017. You lost points this season, but honestly, building around Braylon Edwards and DeShaun Foster won't put you in the top 4 right now.

B) You're looking at loads of potential for probably 14-15 games this season, with real keeper potential now that Denver RB guru Gary Kubiak controls Davis. Solid pick, but injuries hurt short term value.

C) Great, great player. The only problem with a TE this high is the aforementioned RB point. You need as many top flight runners as you can get your hands on. Plus, TE depth is actually better that RB depth: of available TEs, the drop from Gates at pick 1 to Jeremy Shockey/Chris Cooley at pick 31 is far less than the dropoff from Bush/Davis at 1 to DeAngelo Williams/Corey Dillon at 11.

D) Forget everything I just said. I like this option the best.

E) I'll talk. Sexually, mainly.

My first-round mock draft:

1. Dave Tomke - Reggie Bush
2. Lincoln Souzek - Domanick Davis
3. Ed Schillinger - Antonio Gates
4. Brent Whitlock - Jeremy Shockey
5. Andy Viano - Corey Dillon, just for old time's sake
6. Eli Gieryna - Tom Brady, just so Ed can't have him
7. Drew Wolf - Kellen Winslow
8. Eli Gieryna - Donte Stallworth
9. Andrew Stem - Neil Rackers
10. Ed Schillinger - Aaron Brooks, for best available value

Eli can change his mock to reflect Brady at #3 now. Keep Aaron Brooks at 10 though.

As long as we're using the blog as a forum for a swap meet, it's worth mentioning that picks 3 and 10 (separate or together) are on the block.

I'm not even sure if you're joking or not about Roy Williams, Ed. Because he's a horse, and we all know that Mike Martz is going to throw the shit out of the ball.

But Reggie Bush is real young. And running backs are real good. SHIT.

In every sense of the word, I support drafting Roy Williams. He'll be an elite receiver this year and I'm not targeting him.

Updated mock draft (Monday, 2:12 p.m.):

1. Dave Tomke - Roy Williams
2. Lincoln Souzek - Vernand Morency
3. Ed Schillinger - Tom Brady
4. Brent Whitlock - Jeremy Shockey
5. Andy Viano - Antonio Gates
6. Eli Gieryna - Trent fucking Green
7. Drew Wolf - Charlie Frye
8. Eli Gieryna - Tony fucking Romo
9. Andrew Stem - Charles Rogers
10. Ed Schillinger - Aaron Brooks

Fuck you, Eli. If you want Tony Romo, you better trade up to get him. And I'm not really sure how you're going to trade up to beat me, since I'm first.

Tony MOTHERFUCKING Romo. He's my favorite.

Why the fuck did I keep Tony Gonzalez?

Why the fuck did I keep Tony Gonzalez?

{DING}

Ed: What are things we asked last year?

Trebek: Correct!

Ed: I'll take Famous Cleveland Browns Busts for 800, Alex.

On a side note:

"NBC's Peter King says he "sincerely believes" the Cowboys are considering installing Tony Romo as their starting quarterback."

JJ Putz. Frank Gore. Tony Romo.

When did all of our punchlines become valuable fantasy assets?

I fully expect monster years from Kellen Winslow II and Timmy Chang.

Dave Tomke said...

I feel that I should be the only team allowed to have Timmy Chang, since I theoretically drafted him last year, but was unable to get him, due to the ineptitude of Yahoo. I'm pretty sure that I still own his rights.

I actually laughed out loud at this post. Until I saw that I had the Bicycle Solider in Eli's draft. Then came tears. Tears of joy.

Vernand Morency it is. Thanks for the tip, Eli.
