The Bertrand Berry Debacle

Just thought I'd update the world that Bertrand Berry had a sack, forced fumble, and tackle taken away from him. So nevermind about that article about his 15 point defensive week. I guess that just proves that defense matters. Viano wins, and the Gun loses. I can't believe it. Thursday thunder! Poor, poor Eli.

I sent an email to yahoo inquiring on the matter. ESPN and Sportsline (which might use the same services) still reflect the initial stats for Berry without adjustment.

My best guess is that Berry was attributed a sack and forced fumble and tackle on a play where Drew Bledsoe actually fumbled a snap, and Berry recovered. The real question is how a play like that is ruled. Does a sack get automatically awarded (presumably to the nearest defender) if a quarterback loses yards? Must every fumble be forced (presumably by the nearest defender)? I imagine these questions are at the center of the debate for yahoo.

But still, there's a chance this was a computer mistake that will be switched back.

The other individual in question is Langston Moore (who are these guys?). All that was taken away from Bertrand Berry was credited to Moore. I have no idea what happened or how this will play out, but it does look as if there might have been confusion as to who made the play(s). I'm not sure why it took until Thursday to solve the situation, but I just hope for The Gun's sake that Berry gets the points back.

There's still a chance I won't hang myself at midnight, too.

I believe it was JR who coined the phrase "God hates Sex Panther."

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

Yahoo! Sports will run all official statistical corrections within
leagues as they are received. Please note that these corrections will
not be reflected in the box scores that appear on the Yahoo! site, nor
will they typically appear in box scores from other sources.

Yahoo! is not responsible for initiating the scoring corrections that
may appear after games have been completed. Generally, scoring changes
are made by the league, the Elias Sports Bureau or other official
sources and are forwarded to Yahoo! by our data provider.

Once the first game of the following week begins, no further
corrections
will be made in head-to-head matchups.

You can click 'Players' from your league home page and then 'Stat
Corrections' to view the corrections that have been made within
leagues.

** Commissioners of Custom Leagues cannot manually remove the
statistical changes from their leagues. However, Yahoo! Sports Fantasy
Football PLUS commissioners have the ability to manually adjust the
final score associated with any completed matchup.

This can be done by clicking "Commissioner Tools" and then "Edit Team
Points."

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

Regards,

Morris
