Kyle Orton

Alright, I have to get it off my chest. Why start Kyle Orton? Was I drugged? Was I abducted by aliens? Am I big fucking dumbass? Stop nodding.

Here's my defense and the path that led to the quarterback quandry.

Option 1: Drew Brees on bye
Option 2: Ben Roethlisberger injury

Trade options explored...

Option 3: Acquire Trent Green...couldn't work out a deal with JR...Green scores negative points anyway
Option 4: Acquire Mike Vick...couldn't work out a deal with LaTomke
Option 5: Acquire Matt Hasselbeck...couldn't work out a deal with Skillz

Waive Wire options...

Option 6: Trent Dilfer...was playing the Steelers at Pittsburgh and two Cleveland players on offense would be playing with fire
Option 7: Gus Ferrotte...was playing at home but against the Patriots
Option 8: Kyle Orton...was playing at home against the 2-6 49ers

And so it came down to Ferrotte versus Orton. Figuring the lowly San Franscisco matchup was better than a world champion one, I went with Orton. If you must criticize, you should criticize my decision to choose Orton over Ferrotte and not for thinking that Kyle was my preferred pick. He was at best option 7. I knew it was ugly per my "smacktalk" on Thursday.

With all this said, I clearly do not deserve to be in the playoff hunt. To lose a critical game when your opponent throws a 0 in a RB spot is inexcusable. To ever find yourself picking between Kyle Orton and Gus Ferrotte at this point in the season is poor GMship. I, however, will reserve the right to hate Kyle Orton and be depressed.
